Lake St. Croix Beach Transparency
Transparency is the quality of being easily seen through. It refers to openness and honesty. As part of best practices, transparency requires the disclosure of all relevant information so that residents can make informed decisions.
The communication channel between the city and its residents is broken. We’re here to fix it.
Many residents feel unheard and frustrated by the limited 3-minute public input process, while others seem to receive up to 10 minutes when engaging with the City Council. This isn’t fair, and it isn’t right.
There’s a growing lack of trust in the process, and it’s time to restore transparency, fairness, and accountability in local government.
Key Issues That Need Answers
✔ Public Data Requests: Why is the city failing to process public data requests in a timely manner—if at all? Their track record speaks for itself, and it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
✔ Public Meetings & Code of Conduct: City employees should be held to a public code of conduct at meetings. It’s time for City Council to enforce this standard.
✔ Meeting Videos & Public Access: Planning Commission meeting videos must be posted online before the next City Council meeting. The last known posting was August 7, 2024—so why hasn’t the February 5, 2025 meeting been uploaded?
✔ Elimination of the Planning Commission: Why did the City of Lakeland eliminate their Planning Commission? Who is making the final decisions in Lake St. Croix Beach now?
✔ City Attorney Handling Meeting Minutes: Is it financially responsible to have the city attorney handling meeting minutes when most cities have their clerk do it at a much lower cost?
✔ Lack of Meeting Details in Minutes: When the city attorney writes the minutes, only the votes are recorded—not the discussions. How can residents stay informed when critical conversations are omitted?
